Highlights - Rules on airport slot allocation "Slot Relief" - presentation by the Commission - Committee on Transport and Tourism
This proposal on slot allocation grants aviation stakeholders a relief from airport slot use requirements for the summer 2021 scheduling season. While airlines normally have to use 80% of the slots awarded to them to secure their full slot portfolios, the proposal reduces this threshold to 40%.
It also introduces a number of conditions aimed at ensuring airport capacity is used efficiently and without harming competition and it grants a delegation of power to the EC to extend until 24 August 2024 the period during which the relief could apply, if the COVID-19 pandemic is not resolved. The presentation will take place on Monday afternoon, 11 January 2021 and will be webstreamed.
