Calculation Rules

Regulation (EC) No 561/2006 provides a common set of EU rules for maximum daily and fortnightly driving times, as well as daily and weekly minimum rest periods for all drivers of road haulage and passenger transport vehicles. The aim of this set of rules is to ensure fair competition, improve road safety and improve drivers' working conditions within the EU. The operations impacted by the Regulation include international and national passenger transport and road haulage, both long as well as short distance.

CORTE has established a Working Group on Calculation Rules in order to understand the nuances of the regulation and consider the methodologies, which enforcers and the transport industry could adopt, to control compliance with driving and resting times as prescribed by the Regulation.
